UCLA Defeats USC In GPSTS Poker Match
From PokerPages.com.
In the second match on the Global Poker Strategic Thinking Society schedule, the poker club of UCLA edged out USC for a 3-2 win.
The schools met last week for five heads up matches, with UCLA players Igor Gample, Jon Kennelly and Michael Shinzaki each bettering their Trojan opponents in a best of three series. Last month, Harvard was able to defeat Yale in the first match of the GPSTS season.
The match was preceded by stories from the poker world by guest speaker Annie Duke. The poker match was held on the eve of the perennial USC vs. UCLA football match up, this year at the L.A. Coliseum. Unfortunately, the UCLA football team couldn't build upon their poker team's momentum and fell to the Trojans 24-7.
The GPSTS continues to add schools to its program and hopes to have a National Championship Tournament coinciding with March Madness basketball.
